Wardrobe blunder

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A few years ago I had a very early start to catch a flight for a work day trip to Brisbane. It meant waking up before dawn, well before the rest of the household was awake, so I had to get myself dressed and ready for the day very quietly in the dark.

The morning proceeded without any disruptions. I managed to reach the airport on time and catch my flight without any delays. As scheduled, I arrived in Brisbane and attended my client’s meeting. I confidently stood up at the front of the room before a group of approximately 15 individuals, seated in a horseshoe arrangement, attentively listening to my presentation.

After I dazzled the audience with my impeccable presentation skills, I gracefully strutted back to my seat, only to be met with an unexpected breeze caressing my back. Initially, I attributed it to the icy grip of the overzealous air conditioning. Oh, how wrong I was! It wasn’t until I nonchalantly slipped my jacket on that I discovered the grand spectacle I had unknowingly created: my dress zipper was shamelessly waving at anyone who dared to glance in my direction, halfway down my back.

In the midst of my groggy morning haze and frantic rush, I made an amusing fashion blunder: apparently, I forgot to zip up the back of my dress! It seems that in my half-asleep state, getting dressed in the darkness before anyone else was even awake, I unknowingly left a gaping void behind me. Thankfully, I had the foresight to wear a jacket for most of the morning, shielding my embarrassing oversight. Well, most of the morning, that is. Unfortunately, when it came to the crucial moment, standing in front of a group of clients, there was no hiding my fashion faux pas! Oh, the wonders of early mornings, where wardrobe mishaps await at every turn.

Nobody said a peep that morning. They were either as polite as can be or just plain oblivious (let’s hope it’s the latter)… I’ve become extra cautious when it comes to getting dressed these days and I always, without fail, give my wardrobe a lightning-fast once-over before stepping up for a presentation! Keep calm and check your ensemble, folks!
